Hyderabad is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. It is the fifth-most populous city in India and the second-most populous city in the state of Telangana. Hyderabad is a major center for IT, manufacturing, and education.



The history of Hyderabad can be traced back to the 16th century. In 1591, the Qutb Shahi sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah founded the city as his new capital. The city was named Hyderabad, which means "the city of Haydar" or "lion city", after Caliph Ali Ibn Abi Talib, also known as Haydar because of his lion-like valour in battle.
